IBRAF signs partnership with CPLP [1]

The Brazil Africa Institute (IBRAF) and the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) signed, in a ceremony at CPLP’s headquarters in Lisbon,  a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the creation of partnerships and the development of projects. The act was attended by the board of the CPLP and by the Ambassador of the Brazilian Mission to the entity, Gonçalo Mourão.

IBRAF and CPLP must work together to raise funds and execute projects that benefit Portuguese-speaking countries, especially young people. For the President of the Institute, Prof. João Bosco Monte, signing the Memorandum of Understanding “shows that two organizations that take care of such an important agenda, which is the empowerment of youth, have decided to join forces.”

“It means establishing a partnership that aims to increasingly develop Brazil’s relations with Africa in every way,” said Ambassador Gonçalo Mourão.

The CPLP was present at the 6th Brazil Africa Forum, held by IBRAF on November 22nd and 23rd in Salvador, Bahia, with the theme Youth Empowerment: Transformation to Achieve Sustainable Development. “It’s a partnership that opens with very good expectations. Certainly our Portuguese-speaking countries will be benefited” said the Executive Secretary, Maria do Carmo Silveira.

Created in 1996, the CPLP is made up of nine member states: Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe and East Timor.
