Ministry of Health of Angola launches specialization courses in nursing.

The Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, presided over the ceremony marking the start of nursing specialization  in Bengo Province.

On the occasion, the minister stated that the priority of the Health sector for the 2023-2028 period is the training of professionals at all levels and in all areas, with a focus on the continuous development of health careers.

In this regard, she added that training programs are underway in various areas of the sector, with a particular emphasis on the nursing career through post-secondary courses.

To implement this training, Sílvia Lutucuta informed that the government has launched an emergency personnel training plan, supported by the World Bank for the next four years.

This training will enable the qualification and specialization of 38,000 professionals, including 3,000 doctors, 9,000 nurses, an equal number of nursing technicians, and diagnostic and therapeutic technicians.

Additionally, 4,000 general regime professionals and the same number of hospital support staff will also participate in the training.

The head of the sector emphasized that the nursing career receives the largest share, with 18,000 beneficiaries, reflecting the strategic importance of this profession in strengthening the health system.

In this selection process, 4,834 professionals applied, and 3,771 were selected.

In this first phase, training hubs in the provinces of Cabinda, Bengo, Ícolo Bengo, Luanda, Cuanza Norte, Cuanza Sul, Lunda Sul, Benguela, Huambo, Bié, and Huíla are included.
