    The purpose of the course, which is free and about 10 hours long, is to present the Universal Health Human Resources Strategy approved by PAHO Member States in September 2017 and an overview of the challenges of the human resources field for health for the Region of the Americas. Sign up!

    World Health Organization (WHO) will host the first-ever Health for All film festival in Geneva in May 2020.

    On October 24, World Polio Day, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is celebrating 25 years of being certified polio-free in North, Central and South America, as well as in the Caribbean. There is no cure for polio, but it's preventable with vaccination. Read more.

  • 10/16/2019 - Chagas disease (American trypanosomiasis)

  • 10/16/2019 - PAHO Directing Council ends with regional agreements to eliminate diseases and improve the quality of health care for all people

    The meeting approved seven new regional initiatives, including a joint initiative to eliminate more than 30 diseases and conditions from the hemisphere by 2030 and a strategy to improve the quality of health care as part of PAHO member countries’ efforts to achieve “universal health".   • 10/01/2019 - Evidence for decision making: PAHO facilitates access to scientific and technical knowledge on HRH

    Since August, the Regional Observatory for Human Resources in Health (HRH) has been facilitating direct access to technical-scientific production and unconventional (gray) HRH literature. The initiative allows research on the Virtual Health Library (VHL), in the repository with gray literature identified by the Regional Network of HRH Observatories and consult the infometric indicator panels of the literature published in the Medline and Lilacs databases.     Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) are delivering a joint dementia awareness campaign for the Region of the Americas throughout September 2019.
