A new State of Global Air/2019 report estimates that average life expectancy worldwide is reduced by about a year and eight months due to exposure to current levels of global air pollution. Developing countries are hit the hardest in terms of life expectancy. The report estimates that people in many African, Eastern European, and Asian countries lose between one and 1.87 years off their life expectancy. Read the Report.

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) updated its projections for economic activity growth for the countries of the region in 2019 and slightly reduced its estimate to the regional average to 1.3%, compared to 1; 7% expected in December 2018, when the institution launched the annual Preliminary Overview of the Economies of Latin America and the Caribbean, 2018.
