The Republic of Equatorial Guinea became a member of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) in 2014. According to the World Health Organization's Annual Report for 2016, the country is the last one to have access to water suitable for human consumption on the African continent. In addition to this problem, the state suffers from high rates of infant and maternal mortality, low life expectancy, and tuberculosis and HIV. Still according to these data, it is estimated that less than 30% of children receive the three doses of the Hepatitis B vaccine - the worst rate in Africa.
