Regional 2017 Atlas on Adolescent and Youth Health

Date of publication:
06/27/2018

Review / Summary:

In setting out the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for all countries to be achieved by 2030, world leaders pledged that “No one will be left behind”. Concerns about health issues and risk behaviours among adolescent and youth have made this age group an essential component of the global, regional and national agenda. Investing in adolescent health and development will reduce the burden of morbidity and mortality in later life because healthy behaviors and practices adopted during adolescence tend to last a lifetime. Today’s adolescents are tomorrow’s parents, teachers and leaders. What they learn today, they will teach to their own children and other children tomorrow.
