The Department of Human Development in Health (Dirección de Desarollo Humano en Salud) is a unit that is on the second level of the structure of the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) which is linked to the Sub Secretariat of Health. Its creation took place in 1987 by Decree No. 460 of the Provincial Executive Management as National Directorate of Human Resources and Education and comes with a differentiation of personnel management function to cover the functions of planning and education of HRH. In February 2010, the Provincial Decree No. 722, changed its name and its structure by creating three departments: Health Work Management, Health Workforce Planning and Policies, and Training and Continuing Education in Health.
Its responsibility is to intervene in policy, formulating plans and adoption of strategies for the development of the health workforce management according to the requirements of health services in response to the needs of the population of the province.
There are three major lines related to the development of HRH: Residency Programs in Health – from 27 health specialties, eight happen in provincial hospitals; the School of Public Health, which mission is to apply the official educational policies related to social development and the sectors of work and production of health services, and the Direction of the Center for Biomedical Information, aimed to educate, select and disseminate information about health sciences.
