  • 04/29/2019 - WHO public consultation on tuberculosis

    The World Health Organization (WHO) has opened public consultation for the first version of the document Global Strategy on research and innovation for Tuberculosis. Contributions can be sent until May 8th and they will help to compose the next version of the document, which must be submitted to the Executive Committee of the Organization and then submitted to the World Health Assembly.

  • 04/15/2019 - ECLAC Lowers its Economic Growth Estimates for Latin America and the Caribbean: GDP Will Increase 1.3% in 2019

    The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) updated its projections for economic activity growth for the countries of the region in 2019 and slightly reduced its estimate to the regional average to 1.3%, compared to 1; 7% expected in December 2018, when the institution launched the annual Preliminary Overview of the Economies of Latin America and the Caribbean, 2018. The new estimate for 2019 is influenced by the complex external scenario and the dynamics observed in the countries of the region. Read more.

  • 04/08/2019 - ECLAC Will Host the Third Meeting of the Forum of the Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on Sustainable Development

    The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will host the third meeting of the Forum of Latin American and Caribbean countries on Sustainable Development, at the headquarters in Santiago, Chile. The event will be from April 22 to 26 and will address the challenges and advances of the 2030 agenda in the region. Read more.

  • 03/20/2019 - Publication of ISAGS: “Interference of the Food Industry in the Policies Innovative Graphic Labeling of Processed Foods in South America”.

    In the report, the authors – Francisco Armada, Isabel Iturria Caamaño and Juan Bacigalupo – indicate that “various strategies of industry interference have been documented due to commercial interests contrary to the right to health and the development of healthy nutrition and food policies”. To access the full study, click here.
