The Personnel Training Center for Health in Assis, in São Paulo, was created in 1962 as the School of Nursing Assistants in Assis, with the objective of offering professional qualification to nursing assistants in the state public service who worked without due qualification. In 1987, it became a training center, offering decentralized courses to regions that did not have the possibility of technical training at secondary level.

Currently, Cefor Assis serves the municipalities of Araçatuba, Assis, Bauru, Botucatu, Marília and Presidente Prudente. Their teachers are professionals from state and municipal health services, pedagogically trained.
