The Higher School of Health Technologies of Lisbon (ESTeSL) is the direct successor of the Technical School of Health Services of Lisbon founded, in its turn, by the Education Center of Lisbon.

The school began its activities in the academic year of 1980/81 and in 1993 was integrated to the national educational system, as a Polytechnic Higher education school, then moving to its current designation as Higher education school.

The ESTeSL bases itself in the fundamental principles defined to this level of Higher education, through the symbiosis between the education and the health technologies and science studies, in the unique mission to build capacity in human resources for health, contributing to the improvement of the quality of the education and increasing the efficiency of the service provided to the population’s health care.
