The South American Institute of Government in Health (ISAGS/UNASUL) has opened candidate nominations for executive director. The Ministries of Health of the member countries of the Bloc must send their candidatures to the Institute‘s office by March 3.

According to the resolution approved at the 9th Ordinary Meeting of the South American Health Council – in September 2015, in Uruguay – , applicants must be political figures with a background in the field of international cooperation and leadership in the health area. It is also important that they have substantial knowledge of UNASUR official languages and are available to live in Rio de Janeiro during the term of office.

“ISAGS is a centre for critical thinking, which has been established as a mechanism for articulation, integration and support to the South American Health Council", observed José Gomes Temporão, who will conclude his second term of office as the Institute’s director next July.

The Institute will collect all applications received and put them forward to the Ministries of Health of UNASUR Member States. The new executive director will be elected through consensus during the next meeting of ISAGS’ Directive Council.
