The program of the 1st Ibero-American Meeting on Simulation-Based Education in the training of health technicians brings together various activities. On an immersive metaverse virtual platform, participants, through their avatars, will be able to move freely through the different spaces and attend synchronous and asynchronous presentations, take part in forums by technical specialty, participate in simulation forums, access videos, documents and photos and interact in real time with each other in different ways (chat, videoconference, exchange of contact information).

“This event is a pioneer in Latin America; we are experiencing a real and urgent need to adopt teaching and learning strategies that guarantee the training of technical professionals committed to quality and safety in healthcare services,” said Alessandra Vaccari, professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, and one of the speakers in the central auditorium.
According to Vaccari, Clinical Simulation can be implemented as a validated strategy to replicate real situations through safe and controlled environments, with the objective of promoting confidence and professional preparation, encompassing not only technical-scientific aspects, but also emotional and behavioral ones, aiming at patient safety and increasing the quality of care in health services. “However, in order for us to enjoy all the learning benefits that Clinical Simulation can provide, we need to carry it out by strictly following its step-by-step instructions and concepts. That is why this event, which will train teachers and professionals in the application of this strategy in technical health teaching, is so important,” he added.

In the central auditorium, with capacity for 2,500 people, there will be four daily lectures, with the possibility of interaction between speakers and participants. In the Thematic Simulation Rooms (SIM), with capacity for 200 people, there will be six meetings a day to discuss essential simulation concepts and practices (SimZones, Prebriefing, Debriefing, etc.).

It will also be possible to visit stands on technical specialties, where it will be possible to download files, watch videos, insert links (forms, web, networks, etc.) and participate in meetings with technicians of these specialties from all countries. There will also be stands from the participating countries, where it will be possible to learn a little about the world of health technicians in each of them. It should be noted that all the talks in the auditorium will have simultaneous translation into Portuguese and Spanish.

Registration for the general public will begin on November 8. Participation is free of charge, but please note that places are limited. Subscribe to the RETS newsletter and keep up to date with the latest news. Official languages: Portuguses and Spanish
