  • 09/26/2024 - Get ready! On November 27, 28, and 29, the 1st Ibero-American Meeting on Simulation-Based Education will be held, specifically aimed at training health technicians. The event aims to bring together around 2,500 people in an immersive virtual metaverse format, including experts in the field; students, teachers, and managers of training institutions; health technicians from different areas and levels of training; and health cooperation and regional integration organizations to exchange experiences with each other and with their peers in more than ten countries. Participation in the event is free. Pre-registration information will be released shortly.   • 09/09/2024 - The concept of networks has been used for a long time in the health sector and with different meanings. In general, the concept can be used to refer to situations in which it is possible to identify interactions or exchanges between different members or nodes to face common challenges. Generally, the term is used to refer to networks of people who are linked to each other, although they may belong to institutions, thus forming institutional networks such as Health Technician Training Schools, National Institutes of Health and Public Health Training Schools and Institutions. But one characteristic is that the institutions that form a network are connected through people.
  • 08/27/2024 - The second event in the Cycle of Webinars 'The VCPH and the training of health technicians', held on August 20, had the main objective of sharing the results of a survey carried out by the Joaquim Venâncio Polytechnic Health School (EPSJV/Fiocruz), the WHO Collaborating Center for the Education of Health Technicians, in partnership with the Pan American Health Organization's Virtual Campus for Public Health (VCPH-Opas/WHO) with the support of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID). Find out who are the technicians that use the VCPH courses: where they come from, what age group and gender they fall into, which courses they choose, what motivates them and how the relationship between these workers and the VCPH can be improved.
  • 08/27/2024 - On August 12 and 13, the Joaquim Venâncio Polytechnic School of Health (EPSJV) hosted the Workshop for the project “Human resources for health in the context of Covid-19: Strengthening capacities to improve the response of health systems”, with a focus on developing the capacity of health professionals in remote and underserved areas. On the occasion, the first results of the research project were presented, which analyzed the use of the PAHO Virtual Public Health Campus by health technicians.
  • 08/12/2024 - Continuing the research program "Expanding the participation of health technicians in the PAHO/WHO Virtual Campus for Public Health (VCPH)", the Joaquim Venâncio Polytechnic School of Health (EPSJV), in partnership with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), is promoting the second virtual seminar to present the results of this project which analyzes the trajectory and experience of health technician users who have already taken courses at the VCPH/PAHO.
  • 07/29/2024 - Meeting in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), G20 ministers issued the “G20 Development Ministerial Declaration on Reducing Inequalities”. The document, the result of intense discussions since Brazil assumed the presidency of the international forum, commits countries to sustainable development and inclusive policies, underlining the importance of international cooperation to address global inequalities.
  • 07/11/2024 - The World Health Organization (WHO) has prequalified the first hepatitis C virus (HCV) self-test which can provide a critical support in expanding access to testing and diagnosis, accelerating global efforts to eliminate hepatitis C.
  • 06/26/2024 - SEGIB announces the results of the 2nd Call for Proposals: Networking is strengthening Ibero-America. The Ibero-American Network for the Education of Health Technicians (RIETS) was one of the winners and will invest for the second time in the theme of clinical simulation in the training of health technicians. Since the first call for proposals was approved, RIETS and its members have developed projects involving the construction of a repository, international meetings and workshops that encourage and guide institutions interested in improving training and health systems using simulation.
  • 06/11/2024 - Researchers from the Fiocruz Global Health Center (Cris/Fiocruz) provide an overview of the 77th World Health Assembly, which concluded on 6/1/2024, highlighting the key moments of the event. The authors emphasize the approval of important resolutions by the 194 Member States of the WHO, ranging from the 14th General Programme of Work of the WHO (GPW14-PGT14) and amendments to the International Health Regulations (IHR) to those related to Climate and Health, Economy and Health for All, Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), and Mental Health and Emergencies, among many others. The article also highlights the "decisive Brazilian participation" in the approval of the resolution that implements, reinforces, and maintains social participation in health decision-making processes.
  • 06/10/2024 - On June 3 and 4, the Joaquim Venâncio Polytechnic School of Health (EPSJV) hosted a workshop as part of the project “Human Resources in Health in the Context of Covid-19: Strengthening Capacities to Improve Health System Responses,” focusing on capacity building for health professionals in remote areas. The event presented findings from the project's initial phase, highlighting the usage patterns of the PAHO/WHO Virtual Campus for Public Health. Discussions addressed the governance of the virtual campus, the significance of data on health technicians, and the necessity for educational pathways aligned with WHO Academy standards. Participants also explored the concentration of enrollments in specific courses and the need for more granular data to assess the impact on local health conditions.
