04/19/2022 - The Emergency Committee convened by the WHO Director-General under the International Health Regulations (IHR) on the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic unanimously agreed that the COVID-19 pandemic remains an extraordinary event that continues to adversely affect the health of population groups worldwide, carries a risk of international spread and interference with international traffic, and requires a coordinated international response.

04/12/2022 - The 4-7 April convening of the WHO Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) evaluated the evidence that has been emerging over past years that single-dose schedules provide comparable efficacy to the two or three-dose regimens. SAGE’s review concluded that a single-dose Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine delivers solid protection against HPV, the virus that causes cervical cancer, that is comparable to 2-dose schedules. This could be a game-changer for the prevention of the disease; seeing more doses of the life-saving jab reach more girls.

01/14/2022 - The World Health Organization (WHO) on Friday gave the green light to two new drugs against COVID-19: baricitinib and sotrovimab. One of the drugs is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis and is recommended for patients with severe symptoms of coronavirus, while the other is used for patients with non-severe signs of coronavirus but at risk of hospitalization.
